The Zugspitze and the surrounding alpine pastures
An outstanding experience
Tyrol and the adjoining Bavaria share the highest mountain in the Wetterstein mountain range, the Zugspitze. This panoramic mountain is just under 3,000 metres high, and is one of the most popular destinations for excursions offering many attractions. In winter, sports lovers can enjoy skiing on the Zugspitzplatt or delightful ice climbing tours, while in summer the Zugspitze is ideal for hiking or for tackling various climbing routes. The Summit Restaurant with its unbeatable panoramic view guarantees gourmet pleasures in a cosy setting.
From Tyrol to Germany’s highest mountain
The Zugspitze can be scaled effortlessly by means of the Tiroler Zugspitzbahn cable car directly from the Resort. The view from the panorama terrace of the Summit Restaurant extends to four countries and the sea of summits of the Eastern Alps. A visit to the “Faszination Zugspitze” interactive museum is also well worthwhile, and you will learn many fascinating facts about the Zugspitze. And the Zugspitze also has a new highlight: since March 2016 the small snow crystal world at the mountain station has offered an insight into the magical universe of snowflakes.
Romantic moments at sunrise
A highlight in the autumn months is a sunrise trip to the Zugspitze followed by a breakfast buffet. You will be thrilled by the picture-postcard motifs and the unique atmosphere as the mountain peaks start to glow under the rising sun. Experience the sunrise and long-distance view in the morning sun on the Zugspitze. The large breakfast buffet in the Panorama Summit Restaurant will ensure the perfect start to the day.
