A bathrobe instead of a rain jacket: family wellness in autumn at the Zugspitze

Autumnal weather outside, warm aquatic worlds inside: at the Zugspitz Resort, a grey, rainy day turns into family time filled with swimming fun, the Family SPA, saunas, massages and plenty of opportunities to relax and unwind.

Wellness with children – is that even possible?

To many parents, a wellness holiday initially sounds like peace and quiet, saunas and as little hustle and bustle as possible. Then comes the crucial question: what will the children get up to? At the Zugspitz Resort, the answer is: quite a lot – and that’s precisely why there’s still time for the adults to relax.

After all, family wellness doesn’t have to mean everyone sitting still at the same time. Whilst the little ones let off steam in the Water Worlds, parents can enjoy a quiet moment in the Relaxation Worlds. And when everyone comes together afterwards, wellness simply becomes quality family time.

In the Family Wellness, families will find their own private retreat with a clothing-optional sauna, steam bath, relaxation room and garden with a sunbathing lawn. For the adults, there’s also a separate adults-only area with various saunas, relaxation zones and soothing treatments. This way, every day of the holiday can follow its own pace: first some action, then warmth, followed by a short break – and perhaps it’s time for another dip in the water.

3 types of wellness: for young, old and those who enjoy it together

In autumn, it doesn’t matter if it’s drizzling outside: across around 700 m² of water fun, you’ll find adventure pools, children’s pools and baby pools, five water slides, as well as a pirate ship, water cannons and climbing frames in the adventure pool. The double racing slide with a timer turns sliding into a little family competition, whilst the little ones splash about in the baby pool or on the elephant slide. Afterwards, the fun continues in the play park with slides, climbing frames, a trampoline and a pedal go-kart track.

Whilst the children enjoy their water adventures, parents can relax in the Sauna World (for aged 16 and over) with a Finnish sauna, bio sauna, steam bath and saltwater grotto, as well as in relaxation rooms, the fresh-air area, the whirlpool and the Kneipp pool. Massages, beauty treatments and special treatments for children round off the range of facilities on offer.

Together, the whole family can head to the panoramic indoor adventure pool or the heated outdoor pool with views of the Zugspitze. This makes family wellness hassle-free: water, warmth, play and quality time together can be combined flexibly – without the need for a strict daily schedule.

Autumn days on the Zugspitze? Best to have a Plan B

Not every autumn day calls for hiking boots. If rain, fog or chilly temperatures dampen your enthusiasm for a mountain hike, that’s no reason to spend the day in your room at the Zugspitz Resort. So, put on your bathrobe, pack your swimming trunks and head off to DIDI’S Water World. The little ones set new slide records, the grown-ups treat themselves to a few quiet minutes in the spa, and in between, the whole family meets up in the warm water.

This way, a change in the weather doesn’t become a holiday problem, but a new opportunity to spend time together. After all, a family holiday doesn’t always have to be spectacular. Sometimes all it takes is a warm pool, a bit of peace and quiet, and that lovely feeling of being exactly where you should be, together.

A bathrobe instead of a rain jacket – because a grey autumn day with the kids is no reason to miss out on holiday happiness.
