Summer bliss at the new Zugspitzpark

Some summer days simply stick in the memory: spending lots of time outdoors, having lots of adventures, and getting out and about together. That’s exactly why the new Zugspitzpark Ehrwald is being created at the foot of the Zugspitze – a place for families, nature and activity.

Blick auf die Zugspitze

Where adventure and summer in the mountains come together

On 17 May 2026, the new Zugspitzpark Ehrwald will celebrate its grand opening with a bike launch and family festival at the Wettersteinbahn valley station. Situated right at the foot of the Zugspitze, this new adventure park combines nature, exercise and quality family time in a unique way. Bike trails, forest slides, archery and panoramic paths ensure varied summer days in the heart of the Tyrolean mountains.

Even the journey on the Ehrwald Wettersteinbahn is an experience in itself. The view of the Wetterstein massif gradually opens up, whilst the next adventures await at the top. Particularly lovely for families: many attractions are easily accessible – straightforward and ideal for explorers of all ages.

And it is precisely this feeling that characterises a summer holiday in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Area. Whether hiking, mountain biking or relaxed family outings in nature – the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena combines active holidays and shared experiences in a particularly relaxed way.

Flow, Trails & Summit Views

Those who love to experience summer on two wheels will quickly find their favourite spot at the new Wetterstein Bike Park. The new trails offer riding fun for all levels – from a relaxed family adventure to a sporting challenge. Thanks to the Wettersteinbahn cable car, cyclists can reach the top in comfort, with the trailheads starting directly below the mountain station.

The blue “Blue Bird” trail delights with flowing bends and playful features – perfect for families and beginners. Things get more challenging on the red “Fifty/Fifty” trail, whilst ambitious riders can venture onto the black “Bare Knuckle” trail. Every descent is accompanied by the impressive panorama around the Zugspitze.

And for those who want to experience this biking sensation even more intensely, the Zugspitz Resort offers the perfect summer packages. A real highlight for young riders is the Holiday Ride Week in August 2026: five days packed with trail rides, riding technique training and shared biking moments with professional guides in the heart of the Tyrolean mountains.

Zugspitze im Abendlicht

Sliding through the forest, marvelling at the mountains

A real family highlight at the new Zugspitzpark is the Forest Slide Adventure Trail. Even the ride up on the Wettersteinbahn gets you excited – a playful adventure awaits at the top, right in the heart of the forest. The slide pad takes you down six varied forest slides, each with its own character. Particularly impressive is the “Golden Eagle” slide, almost 36 metres long, which combines speed and distance.

Between the slides, the forest opens up again and again; the scent of wood fills the air and the children’s laughter accompanies the way – a natural part of the experience.

Those who want to immerse themselves even further can find the 3D archery course at the valley station or head towards Gamsalm. Little extra adventures that round off the day, but don’t have to take centre stage.

This is how the new Zugspitzpark will be remembered: as a place where summer comes alive through slides, moments in the forest and shared experiences – vibrant, carefree and full of family time right at the foot of the Zugspitze.

See you soon in the mountains – at the new Zugspitzpark Ehrwald!
