Zugspitzpark in Ehrwald

Where summer unfolds amidst forests, rocks and freedom

Between the Zugspitze and the forest, summer becomes a world of adventure, full of activity and a sense of nature. In the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, the new leisure park combines bike trails, forest slide adventures and a wide range of outdoor activities into a fun-filled experience for the whole family – easily accessible via the Ehrwald Wettersteinbahn and right at the heart of the action.

Hiking is so yesterday – now it’s all about sliding!

Amidst the treetops, mountain air and plenty of fun

Where the forest meets the mountain air, a summer full of activity, nature experiences and sliding fun at the Waldrutschen Park begins in Ehrwald. Even the ascent on the Wettersteinbahn Ehrwald cable car gives you that first rush of altitude – whether you take the comfortable chairlift with its sweeping views, or walk the approximately 420 metres in altitude and 3.3 kilometres between the valley and mountain stations. Once at the top, an experience awaits that families in particular will love: playful sliding on mats, which can be hired at the valley station, combined with nature and a sense of light-heartedness in the mountains. The Waldrutschen Park is open exclusively during the Wettersteinbahn’s operating hours (currently Thursday to Sunday, daily from 20 July 2026) and combines hiking and sliding into an experience that motivates even children to tackle longer routes – sturdy footwear, comfortable clothing and plenty of drinking water are essential.

Along varied trails, six forest slides, each with its own character, await: the Golden Eagle (36 m / 14 m high), the largest slide in the park; the Buzzard (30 m / 12 m high), fast and full of momentum; the Wood Pigeon (21 m / 8 m high), open and playful with gentle curves; the Tawny Owl (28 m / 11 m high), peaceful and nestled in the woods; the Black Woodpecker (27 m / 10 m high), direct, rhythmic and fun; and the Cuckoo (26 m / 8 m high), perfect for families to enjoy together.

Important rules for safety on the mountain:

  • Children aged 6 and over or taller than 1.30 m may slide unaided
  • Closed shoes must be worn; no loose items or baggy clothing
  • Slide only with a slide pad, in the correct position and keeping a safe distance from others
  • Sliding position: lying down, holding the safety strap with both hands
  • Dogs are permitted on the slide provided they are kept on a lead
  • Please be considerate of other guests, animals and the natural environment

The Zugspitzpark combines nature, play and adventure to create a summer to remember – authentic, varied and right in the heart of the mountains.

Cycling & archery in the heart of the countryside

Where trails meet precision

At Zugspitzpark, alpine nature and modern mountain experiences come together to create a varied range of summer activities. At the heart of it all are the nature-friendly bike trails, featuring three distinctive routes:

  • the playful ‘Blue Bird’ flow trail, with a jib line as its highlight
  • the varied ‘Fifty/Fifty’, alternating between natural and man-made sections, and
  • the 100% hand-built ‘Bare Knuckle’ downhill trail, guaranteed to deliver high speeds

Away from the trails, the mountain landscape invites you to savour the experience: whether on a leisurely hike with views of the Wetterstein Mountains and the Ehrwald valley basin, or trying your hand at archery on the 3D course at the Wettersteinbahn valley station, complete with 30 targets, bow hire and on-site instruction. At the Gamsalm, you can enjoy culinary breaks with panoramic views. Under the motto ‘Life & Movement’, an adventure area combining exercise, relaxation and the enjoyment of nature is taking shape in the Zugspitzpark. Plans include a forest bird trail and a geology trail, as well as a wildflower meadow, which combine nature education with hands-on experiences.
